“Dance With My Father” is a song by Tamyra Gray. She originally sang it while appearing as a guest on the FOX television drama Boston Public.
“Dance With My Father” is not a Tamyra Gray original, however, but a song by Luther Vandross on his 2003, final album, Dance with My Father. It was derived from the death of Vandross’ late father, with whom Vandross would dance when he was a child, among other fond memories.
Gray’s cover of the song has not made it onto an album yet, though it’s entirely possible that it may feature into some of her future albums.
Nor would she be the first artist to cover the song on a recorded track, as “Dance With My Father” has also appeared among the work of Celine Dion, Steve Brookstein, Scott Savol and Kellie Coffey.
